Get the Kids Ready for School Hockey Season

The 2018 school year is about to begin, and with it will come plenty of extracurricular activities. Lots of kids will try out for sports teams this year, learning the values of cooperation, teamwork, and trust.

If your school-age child has joined a hockey team and they could use some extra work sharpening their skills before the season starts, why not contact All Year Sports Galaxy? Yes, we’re known primarily for our portable ice rink and roller rink rentals, but we have more services than that. One of our lesser-known but still very valuable services is our hockey coaching.

Who Leads the Hockey Coaching?

The hockey coaching is led by Vadim Slivchenko, the Director of All Year Sports Galaxy. Slivchenko played hockey professionally for the Ukraine for decades. He represented his country in the men’s national ice hockey team at the IIHF World Championships in 1999 and then two years later in 2001. The next year, 2002, he was a part of the Winter Olympics, again representing his home country.

Who Is the Coaching For?

This coaching is intended for children who are on a school hockey team or who play hockey for other organizations in their spare time.

What Will Kids Learn?

Through regular lessons with Slivchenko, children will learn how to skate better and with more coordination. They’ll become masters of using their hockey sticks. If they’re slow skaters, their speed should improve, as should their strength. They’ll also learn how to check, score, work with the puck, and power-skate.

During the lessons, Slivchenko will lead team system exercises, single-player exercises, progressions and drills, and practice plans that can be utilized in real games.

When Can They Begin?

You can set up a lesson with Slivchenko before or during the school year. Since our hockey training rinks use the same synthetic ice we favor for our ice rink rentals here at All Year Sports Galaxy, there’s no risk of the ice melting. Our synthetic ice is a blend of acrylic and plastic that looks and feels just like the real thing. It can get cold just like ice does, but it won’t melt.

Once your kids become more comfortable on the ice, you might consider hosting an ice-skating party through All Year Sports Galaxy. Our portable ice rink rentals also use synthetic ice. That means even if the summer heat lingers into the autumn, you can still surprise your little budding hockey player with an event they’ll love.
